WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM MY TREATMENTS? You may have immediate relief after the first treatment. Some patients may feel better after a few treatments. Others may experience on and off relief; however, constant or lasting relief will usually be achieved as treatment continues. Rarely, patients may have little or no relief during the course of treatment due to a delayed reaction. Symptom relief may start to occur 4 to 8 weeks later. Patients occasionally experience tiredness during the first few treatments, because acupuncture channels body energy into the healing process. Later, as the body energy is regulated, patients feel very energetic. HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED? In some cases, relief can be obtained after only one or two treatments. For most conditions, usually a series of 6 to 10 treatments are needed. Chronic conditions and neurological conditions require more treatments in order to obtain lasting results. Treatments are recommended on consecutive days or as close as possible for best results. HOW LONG WILL ACUPUNCTURE RELIEF LAST? From our experience, we can generally divide relief into temporary relief and lasting relief. In temporary relief, the symptoms are relieved and the patient enjoys health for a period of several months to a few years. In this case, the patient is advised to return for booster treatments as needed. A few booster treatments may achieve lasting relief. Lasting relief seems to last indefinitely. Since we opened our clinics in 1972, many patients have obtained lasting relief from their condition and still remain symptom-free without any further treatment.
